If you already have a planner cover you enjoy using, pick the paper size that fits with that cover. If you don’t currently have a planner, consider picking the letter size and using a regular 3-ring binder. This will allow you to experiment with creating different layouts without investing in a planner that does not work for your lifestyle.
We have many sizes available, so try out several sizes and use the one that serves your needs.
A few things to consider when choosing your paper size: Do you need to carry your planner around with you? Will Letter or A4 be too large to throw into your handbag? Do you keep your planner at the office and need lots of space for appointments and notes? Do you want to have a large planner you keep at home so you can really map out your day? Consider also creating a smaller planner you can keep in your purse all the time, so when you are on the go you can capture all your to-dos and appointments. There are so many options and you get to choose the one that is right for you!
Do you prefer a classic planner style with lines? Do you have large handwriting and need more space? Do you like using a dot journal for a bit of guidance without the restriction of lines? Do you draw lots of diagrams and a grid would work perfectly for you? Would you rather use unlined paper so you can doodle, draw or decorate it with your own artwork? It’s your choice!
If you’re not sure what kind of background you prefer, try out a few options and see what works best for you.
This is where you can decide if you want to keep your planner page clean and crisp with no border, add a touch of colour with a lined border or you can choose from our library of decorative borders. Have a bit of fun! If you have a planner cover, you can choose borders to match. It’s a great way to create a cohesive look if you also want to use your subscription to create lists in addition to your planner pages.
In this step of the process, you can choose from a wide variety of font styles and colours you would like for your headings. You can divide your planner into Elements (or sections) and pick from a variety of fonts to change the look and add a touch of personality.
This is where it all comes together and the magic happens! Choose the Elements that you need to organize your life. (These could also be called Sections or Categories, it’s the way you’ll divide your planner page that allows you to be your most productive!) If you are currently using a planner, you probably have a good idea of the aspects that you like, as well as the items you don’t use and the items you wish you had. If you don’t currently use a planner, we highly recommend investing in a longer-term subscription plan. This will allow you to use the planner for a bit and then tweak it as necessary.
This final step gives you the chance to review all your choices and see how it comes together. Once you are happy with your planner page, select a subscription plan. Create as many printables within your subscription period as you would like. You can use Design My Planner to organize your entire life! The possibilities are endless. You can create Life Binders, Homemaking Binders and Bullet Journal pages!
